Fifteen high school students recently attended the Cadaver/Health Science Lab at Penn West University, California.  The goal of the lab is to give students a first-hand insight into how human anatomy is essential to understanding the body’s complexities, especially as they prepare for future careers in healthcare

Moon Area High School students recently participated in an educational field trip to the Builders Guild of Western Pennsylvania's BUILD ON event at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center.

Moon Area School District is pleased to announce that Mrs. Christina Frazier has been appointed the district's new Director of Curriculum and Instruction. Mrs. Frazier brings extensive experience in Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) and Positive Behavior interventions and Supports (PBIS), along with a strong alignment to the district’s vision and goals. 

The possibility of winter weather is right around the corner. We want to make sure families are as prepared as possible for any changes to our typical schedule. 

The Moon Area High School Model UN Club had an amazing day at the University of Pittsburgh Model UN Conference!

Mrs. Gregory's high school students had a "Glow Party" to celebrate the end of their suspense unit. 

We are excited to announce that the Moon Angel Tree Program is returning this holiday season! Last year, we were overwhelmed by the incredible generosity of our Moon Area families, whose contributions helped fulfill the wishes, needs, and dreams of 194 Moon Area School District students, bringing joy to many families during the holiday season!

I’m thrilled to share that we’re heading to Austria, Germany, and Switzerland in Summer 2027, and we’d love for your student to join us!

This is an incredible opportunity for students to explore new places, experience different cultures, and gain lifelong skills like independence and confidence. I’ll be sharing all the details, including what we’ll see and do, hands-on learning activities, academic opportunities, trip costs, and how to secure a spot at our informational meeting.

The ASVAB test scheduled for November 5, 2025 has been postponed. We will share a new date once it has been rescheduled. Thank you.

Six MAHS Freshman represented Moon Area on Saturday, October 25 at the Western Pennsylvania Speech & Debate Novice Tournament held at Peters Township High School.

The Moon Area High School Marching Band earned top honors at the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Marching Band Association (PIMBA) Championships, held at Deer Lakes High School on Saturday, October 18.

Moon Area High School 11th grade students Aundraya Schoppe and Alex Wiglesworth recently participated in a hands-on demonstration at the Healthcare Expo, held on October 17 at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center.

Moon Area High School student, Shaurya Kapoor, visited Harrisburg in October to shadow PA State Representative Valerie Gaydos and learn more about our country's legislative process.

The Moon Area High School Drumline brought their energy and talent to Dick’s Sporting Goods headquarters on October 7, putting on an exciting performance that showcased their school spirit and musical skill. The Drumline was there to help welcome the Dick’s Sporting Goods Customer Service Team members from across the country.

MAHS College in High School (CHS) Accounting and Information Technology students attended the Robert Morris University (RMU) Academic Immersive Experience on Thursday, October 2, 2025, at RMU.

The RMU Academic Immersive Experience provided high school students enrolled in RMU CHS programs an opportunity to learn from RMU students and professors. They were welcomed by RMU faculty, staff, and students.

Our girls soccer team played in their annual pink out game this week. Both our Lady Tigers as well as the players from West Allegheny wore pink to support Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

We want to take a moment to address an important issue regarding the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools by students. While AI can be a powerful educational resource, it also carries risks if used inappropriately. Specifically, creating or sharing AI-generated photos or videos that misrepresent individuals or events, or that disrupt our school environment, can cause serious harm.

In support of our High School PBIS program, the MAHS team created special shirts to wear designated days as a way to show their commitment to creating a positive learning environment for all students.

We were proud to honor our 2025 Distinguished Alumni and Service Legacy Award winners at Homecoming!

Moon Area Athletics would like to remind all supporters and visiting spectators attending varsity football games at Tiger Stadium that parking is strictly prohibited at Sharon Community Presbyterian Church, located directly behind our campus.

Three Moon Area High School students are semifinalist in the 71st annual National Merit Scholarship Program! Congratulations to Shaurya Kapoor, Samarth Mandani, and Sophia Shetty. All three students will have the opportunity to continue in the competition to earn one of 6,930 National Merit Scholarships worth nearly $26 million that will be offered in the spring of 2026.

The Homecoming Parade will take place a 5:30 PM at the middle school and proceed to the stadium where it will conclude with a pep rally. 

The Homecoming Carnival will immediately follow the parade in the upper lot/ stadium lot of the Moon Area High School.

Rising senior, Shaurya Kapoor, was accepted into the Pennsylvania Governor’s School for the Sciences at Carnegie Mellon University, a prestigious five-week program that admits fewer than 15 percent of applicants.

Moon Area School District is pleased to share Dr. Lauren Morgan has been named Assistant Superintendent!

Dr. Morgan previously served as the district’s Director of Curriculum and Instruction for over four years, where she collaborated with faculty and administration to develop, implement, and support high-quality K–12 instructional programs that meet the diverse needs of all students. 

I am honored to enter the role of Superintendent for the Moon Area School District. Having worked in the district for over 20 years, I am deeply invested in this community and excited to work alongside you to support our students, staff, and schools.

We’re thrilled to announce the opening of the Moon Area High School Coffee Shop, a student-run initiative that’s brewing more than just great coffee!

We’re opening our doors to the community with special summer hours on Thursdays in July:
