Summer Health Career Academy - Information and Application

The Summer Health Career Academy (HCA) is coordinated and supported by the Southwest Pennsylvania Area Health Education Center (AHEC) in partnership with the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. It is designed for current ninth and tenth grade students who are interested in learning about opportunities in various health careers and the academic preparation necessary for these careers. 


WTS Stem Summer Camp - Application

The WTS Pittsburgh Chapter’s TransportationYOU Program is offering multiple scholarships (up to $750) toward the cost of a STEM/transportation related summer camp of your choice. 

WTS fosters the development of women and girls in the transportation field by encouraging students to undertake careers in the area of transportation. One way it does this is by awarding scholarships to middle and high school girls studying science, technology, engineering, and math.

 


Duquesne University School of Pharmacy- Pharmacy Exploration Day
June 20, 21, 22, and 23 - seats are filling!

The Duquesne University School of Pharmacy hosts a one-day summer camp for high school students and current college students thinking about transferring to explore pharmacy and the many career paths a Doctor of Pharmacy opens. Camp participants arrive in the morning and are done with all activities–including a free lunch–and a "graduation ceremony" later that afternoon.

 


University of Michigan: Joy of Coding - June 21 - August 2, 2023

Pre-college and college bound high-schoolers: jumpstart your introduction to the world of coding with an Intro to Coding online course from University of Michigan Engineering faculty!

Our courses were created with high schoolers in mind. No prior coding experience required! All courses are online and self-paced, so you can fit them into your schedule.

$125 plus tax. Need-based financial aid available

 


McGowan Institute for Regenerative Medicine
Wiegand Summer Scholarship

The Wiegand Summer Internship is designed to provide a high school senior with an introduction to the rapidly evolving area of regenerative medicine and, in particular, regenerative medicine research. The target audience is current high school seniors who live in Allegheny County and who may not otherwise have such an opportunity due to financial or other circumstances.  The program includes an approximately one-month summer internship at the McGowan Institute and a $1,200 stipend. Candidates who are interested in furthering his/her/their studies in biology, biological engineering, chemistry, chemical engineering, or related sciences should apply.

Bricklayers & Allied Craftworkers Local 9 PA Joint Apprenticeship
Apprentices will have beginning wages of $21-$26 per hour plus benefits, with an increase to $37 per hour plus benefits over their 4-year, "Earn as you learn apprenticeship". 

We offer numerous trades such as bricklayers, tile setters/finishers, terrazzo workers, stonemasons, and PCC (pointer-caulker-cleaner). With our 4-year apprenticeship program, we provide apprentices with free class related training, as well as paid on the job training, which leads to long-term successful career paths.
